Artist Statement

I create pictures in an effort to fulfill a desire to create and to explore my own sense of self. I love observation, and through my images try to show others how fulfilling it can be.

Through seeing, observing, capturing, and then manipulating I create in my way “found art”.

Our observations are who we are.  We are creatures of our memories.

Today we are besieged by repetitive exposure to the simplest images in the media.  The memory of our own observations can be overwhelmed by the media's onslaught.  Our memory and sense of self has been numbed by this.

I strengthen my sense of being by creating images of   observation.  I would like to think that my work encourages others to take notice and observe the moment that is surrounding them, and filter out the images media heaps upon them.

Look around and observe, notice that each moment is  different, and that beauty can be found in the most overlooked of places.

My work represents both the exploration as well as expressive, searching to find the answers to “What is Beauty?” and/or “What is Art?” I shoot multiple images of my daily surroundings. Trying to show the beauty in the things we see everyday and present them in a way that is art. The construction and manipulation of images that I have captured with my digital eye allow for the open dialog to these questions.
